FARMWORKER HOUSING SERVICES

These units will be constructed with input from both you and your farmworkers, in order to receive federal funding for 50% to 100% percent of the construction costs. Third party nonprofit involvement, as developers or managers is welcome.

Phase 1

  • Initial consultation
  • Complete Needs and Feasibility Assessment and return to Design Corps offices
  • Receive follow-up letter which outlines the details of Design Corps’ process

Phase 2
  • Site visit
  • Discussion of farmworker needs and the housing program
  • Determine infrastructure needs
  • Develop suitable concept
  • Prepare schematic plan
  • Present concept and schematic plan

Phase 3
  • Client Review of design development, plan and elevation drawings at 1/8” = 1’ and model at 1/8” = 1’
  • Review of design and estimated construction costs Design Corps’ fee: $1,000

Phase 4
  • Client final approval
  • Final approval of the design and costs. Construction bidding will occur. Design Corps’ fee: $2000

Phase 5
  • A preliminary cost estimate will be created for your review based on the bid price
  • Application for Federal funds
  • Written proposal, describing project, submitted to HUD
  • Project will proceed contingent upon receipt of HOME funds
  • Design Corps’ fee: drawn from HUD funding

Phase 6
  • Construction of units
  • Full payment for farmer’s share of construction costs
  • Design Corps’ fee: drawn from HUD funding

Note: Site improvements such as sewer, water, foundations, and utilities are not included in the estimate. Please notify Design Corps during Phase 1, of any improvements that need to be made, so that the costs can be incorporated into your overall assessment of the project cost.

Not included in services:
  • Engineering such as infrastructure, utilities, and technical specifications
  • Application fees for HOME funds, if any exist; and
  • Permitting and planning fees in addition to state and federal migrant housing regulation codes
